Fiat 500 Icon Reloaded Launch

Fiat 500 Icon Reloaded Launch

The Fiat 500 has been a real success for Fiat. During 2015 they launched a facelift or ‘Reloaded’ model to freshen up the range while we wait for the all new model which will be released in 2 years. There are a lot of tweaks to the design inside and out and some nice music and satnav options. This keeps the model fresh and at the top of the league in terms of looks. Now it’s also possible to have a properly masculine looking Fiat 500 and with the wide choice of engines Fiat will hope to be able sell to more men.

There are 6 engine types offered but the best is the 875cc TwinAir turbocharged petrol version which is available in two power outputs 84bhp and 104bhp. These are free to tax and provide a good driving experience. This car is specifically and unashamedly built for city driving but it’s more than competent for short motorway journeys.

The Fiat 500 can come with the UCONNECT system. This comes as standard only on their Lounge versions. Depending on which options you select this system can give you touch screen control, satnav, DAB radio, emission information and USB connection to other devices. The Fiat my:Car system will also give you information on your fuel  level, a heads up if a problem starts to develop with your car and it can remind you where you have parked.

The driving position will not suit everybody as it is quite high and there is a limited amount of adjustment possible but of course a quick test drive will reveal if it suits you or not. Once you have made the necessary adjustments it’s a comfy place to be.

The basic model is the 500 POP which comes with the following features as standard; LED daytime running lights, 14″ steel wheel covers, chrome -plated exterior door handles, height -adjustable steering wheel, radio with USB and Aux-in, steering wheel mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable door mirrors and electric front windows.  The next model up is the 500 POP Star which also includes air conditioning, electrically adjustable painted door mirrors with defrosting & external temperature sensor, 15” alloy wheels and 50/50 split folding rear seat with height adjustable head restraints.  The top model is the 500 Lounge which also includes a fixed sun roof, leather steering wheel with audio controls, 5” Touchscreen Radio with Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in, chrome kit, height -adjustable driver’s seat, fog lights and rear parking sensors.

CONCLUSION

The Fiat 500 remains a great car for city driving. It nips around busy city streets and zips through holes in the traffic with ease. The interior is surprisingly spacious given the size of the car and the styling is unique and fun. The new interior and exterior trim options keep this car stylistically ahead of its rivals.
